Kelly Sheppard, a graduate student in Developmental Psychology, is the recipient of the Sigma XI Grants-in-Aid of Research Grant.

The Sima XI Grants-in-Aid of Research Program awards grants of up to $1,000 to students from all areas of science and engineering. Students use the funding to pay for travel expenses to and from a research site or to purchase non-standard laboratory equipment necessary to complete a research project.

Kelly won for her work examining the relation of the omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acid ratio to work memory and planning in children 7 to 9 years old. Kelly will be recognized at the 2015 Graduate Student Recognition Celebration at April 9, 2015, hosted by UNC Graduate School.
