The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is pleased to announce that Dr. Shauna Cooper joined the Developmental Psychology Program on July 1, 2017 as an
Associate Professor. Dr. Cooper earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 2005. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina from 2007 – 2014. She became an Associate Professor at University of South Carolina in 2014.

Dr. Cooper’s research interests include socio-contextual influences on the development of African American children and adolescents, with specific emphasis on how these factors influence educational, psychological, and health outcomes. Welcome, Dr. Cooper!
