Dr. Enrique Neblett, an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, is the recipient of the first-ever 2014-15 Institute of African-American Research Faculty Fellowship.
This fellowship program supports current research by UNC faculty who are engaged in studies of African-Americans and/or the broader African diaspora. Projects should focus directly on this subject area with explicit attention to the experiences of people of African descent within the diaspora.
Dr. Neblett’s research focuses on racism-related stress, well-being, and health status among African American youth. As an IAAR fellow, he will conduct a longitudinal pilot study investigating the psychological well-being during early adulthood in two cohorts of African American college freshmen. Dr. Neblett will also work on writing a research grant to support a study on racial identity and racial discrimination among emerging adults.
