Dr. Kurt Gray, an Assistant Professor of Social Psychology, is the recipient of a 2015 grant by the Imagination Institute.

Dr. Gray, along with Dr. Michael Christian, an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior, and Dr. John Patrick, an Assistant Professor of Voice and Speech, received a total award of almost $200,000 (over two years) for their project, “Creativity and the Quantification of Free Thought.”

The project will quantify the imaginative creativity inherent in free thought using sophisticated semantic analysis measures. Their research is interested to see if these metrics predict real-world creativity, allow creativity improving interventions, and potential integration into social media platforms to collect data.
