The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience and the Neural Connections is hosting our 2nd Annual Brain Awareness Week at Carolina, a nationwide effort organized by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives and the Society for Neuroscience to promote the public and personal benefits of brain research. Every March, Brain Awareness Week unites the efforts of partner organizations worldwide in a celebration of the brain for people of all ages.

Join us for several Brain Awareness Week events at Carolina, including:

Beautiful Brain: Neuroscience + Art: This exhibit will showcase Triangle area artists, neuroscientists, and musicians whose work is inspired by beautiful brains. Beautiful Brain will be open to the public and feature interactive activities on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 6 pm to 9 pm at UNC Morehead Planetarium. If you would like to submit a work of art to the show, of any medium, please contact Dr. Marsha Penner.

Community Brain Expo: This expo features real brains, hands-on demonstrations and a human radial maze! Come and listen to your own action potentials and brain activity and learn more about neuroscience at UNC. Think you can run a radial maze faster than a neuroscientist? Come and find out – prizes for the best scores! This event is also free and open to the public. Join us on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 10 am to 4 pm at the UNC Student Union’s Great Hall.

Trivia Night: Come and take part in a fun night centered on neuroscience and brain-related trivia! Register with a group of five or just arrive and you’ll be placed in a group of five. There will be prizes and free pizza! Join us on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 8 pm in the Studen Union, room 3411.
