Dr. Todd Thiele and Dr. Montserrat Navarro, faculty in the Behavioral and Integrative Neuroscience Program, are recipients of a 2018 National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) R01 grant.
The Research Project Grant (R01) is the original and historically oldest grant mechanism used by NIH. The R01 provides support for health-related research and development based on the mission of the NIH.
Dr. Thiele and Dr. Navarro, co-principal investigators, received a total award of over $1,749,375 (over five years) for their project investigating the roles of norepinephrine nuclei in the brain-stem in modulating binge alcohol drinking and the averse effects of ethanol. Dr. Kathryn Reissner, an Assistant Professor of Behavioral and Integrative Neuroscience, will also serve as a co-investigator.
