Dr. Eric Youngstrom, a Professor in Clinical Psychology, is the recipient of the Psychology Club’s Award for Excellence in Research Mentoring.

This award is selected via student nomination to recognize outstanding mentorship for undergraduate students in Psychology.

Dr. Youngstrom received an unprecedented number of nominations for his dedication in aiding many students with their Honors theses and supporting the Helping Give Away Psychological Science (HGAPS) Club. He is passionate about helping his students genuinely succeed in the academic world, whether it is taking time out of his busy schedule or to provide resources for students regarding research methods and professional development. Dr. Youngstrom ensures his students succeed in their first research projects, but also gives them enough space to experiment so they are able to run laboratories by themselves in the future. Inciting a passion for undergraduate research is at the heart of this award and Dr. Youngstrom goes above and beyond in his mentorship of undergraduate researchers. Dr. Youngstrom was honored at the Psychology and Neuroscience Commencement Ceremony on May 13, 2018.
