Dr. Amanda Elton, a Research Assistant Professor in Behavioral and Integrative Neuroscience and a member of Dr. Charlotte Boettiger’s laboratory, is the recipient of a 2018 National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) K01 grant.

NIAAA sponsors a variety of fellowships and career development programs to ensure the training of highly qualified investigators in alcohol-related research. Through the Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01), the NIAAA supports researchers at the start of their career by providing protected time and mentoring in an environment where they can develop the skills and expertise for independent research.

Dr. Elton received a total award of over $770,000 (over five years) for her project, “The Neural Mechanisms of Risk for Alcohol Use Disorder among College Students.”
