Stephanie Salcedo, a graduate student in Clinical Psychology, is the 2018 recipient of the UNC Graduate School Initiative for Minority Excellence Doctoral Candidacy Award.

The Initiative for Minority Excellence (IME) focuses on the retention and the successful graduation of our racially/ethnically diverse graduate students through creating a Community of Excellence. The Community of Excellence consists of a cohesive and supportive network that provides programming opportunities and peer mentoring, focused groups in safe spaces for support and encouragement, and resources that impact retention and time to degree.

The IME Doctoral Candidacy Award is a non-service award in the amount of $5,000 to support the retention and successful graduation of underrepresented minority students. Chancellor Folt provides funds in support of this award to make a significant investment in the lives of IME scholars. Congratulations, Stephanie!
