Dr. Barbara Fredrickson, Kenan Distinguished Professor of Social Psychology, is the recipient of a NC Policy Collaboratory/Congressional CARES Act grant.
The North Carolina Policy Collaboratory was established by the NC General Assembly in 2016 to utilize and disseminate the research expertise across the University of North Carolina System for practical use by state and local government. The 2020 COVID-19 Recovery Act is intended to provide aid, relief and economic security to businesses and individuals throughout the state, and establishes a Coronavirus Relief Reserve to maintain federal funds received under The CARES Act. Funds will be used for expenditures incurred and in relation to the public health emergency of COVID-19.
Dr. Fredricksonreceived a total award of over $98,000 (over six months) for her project, “To Wear or Not to Wear a Face Covering: Understanding Socioemotional Factors that Predict Sustained Adherence to Novel Behaviors for the Prevention of COVID-19.”
