Dr. Todd Thiele, a Professor of Behavioral and Integrative Neuroscience, is a recipient of a MERIT (Method to Extend Research in Time) R37 Award by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA).

The prestigious MERIT award has been designed to provide stable, long-term funding support to what are considered to be outstanding, experienced investigators who have maintained high research productivity and who are considered highly likely to continue to perform their research activities in an exceptional manner. The MERIT award provides funding for 5 years and can be renewed for up to 10 years.

Dr. Thiele received a MERIT Award for his innovative research studying the role of neuropeptide Y (NPY) brain circuitry in the modulation of binge alcohol drinking.
