Dr. Rachel Penton, Teaching Assistant Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience, was selected for a 2021 UNC Curriculum Development Awards for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL).

The Curriculum Development Awards is one approach for faculty members to develop global education opportunities that are inclusive by design. These awards support Carolina faculty members interested in working with a colleague at an international partner institution to develop collaborative activities for students in their regularly scheduled courses. Faculty can also request funds to hire a graduate student teaching assistant in the first semester in which the course is taught, to provide support in the development or implementation of COIL activities. The funding comes from the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs and the Chancellor’s Global Education Fund.

With this award, Dr. Penton will develop a COIL project in her Fall 2021 NSCI 320 Neuropsychopharmacology course in collaboration with Dr. Angela Ziebell at Monash University.
