Chris Strauss, a graduate student in Quantitative Psychology, is a recipient of a 2022 University Teaching Award – the Tanner Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching by a Graduate Teaching Assistant.

The Tanner Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching were established to recognize excellence in inspirational teaching of undergraduate students, particularly first- and second-year students. In 1990, the University expanded the purview of the Tanner Awards to recognize excellence in the teaching of undergraduates by graduate teaching assistants.

Chris, along with 24 other faculty members and graduate students, have been named winners of Carolina’s 2022 University Teaching Awards. The University Committee on Teaching Awards, which oversees the selection process, encouraged students to nominate deserving faculty and graduate teaching assistants for the awards. The committee specifically sought nominations with a commitment to care of our students, outstanding mentorship, and effective use of classroom methods. Congratulations to Chris on this well-deserved honor!

Chris will be recognized at half-time of the UNC-Georgia Tech men’s basketball game on January 25, 2022.
